R.I.P. Pathfinder
We had a severe electrical problem with our 1988 Pathfinder, some sort of short that overheated and basically fried a bunch
of wires exiting the relay bank. It was towed by Arizona Mobile Auto from Cave Creek to their shop in Mesa.
After they performed some rudimentary diagnostics, they said the wiring harness had to be replaced. Since no wiring harness is available for a 1988 Pathfinder anymore, it meant repairing the damaged wiring instead. We were assured they could repair the car for something in the area of $1000. We considered having it towed to a shop
with a good reputation that specializes in auto electric (recommended by a local Nissan dealer), but decided to let AZ Mobile perform the repairs instead. The decision was made partly because we had already spent money with them on the repair, but mostly because we were assured on the telephone that work like this was 'bread and butter' for the technician assigned to the task. We were told work like this was his 'stock in trade'.
This web site simply shows the condition we received the car in after spending $946.53 and being told it would take another $5000 to complete the work.
Our 1988 Pathfinder is now essentially a total loss and we have donated it to charity.
